Up until 2005 I was a full time Product Design Engineer working within the automotive industry. I then decided to take my interests in fine woodwork and music, and turn them into a small business, the result being Rob Pepper Mandolins. Being a small business with very few overheads allows me to produce high quality, individual instruments, at a cost little more than that of an average factory made mandolin. And being handmade means no premiums or extra time on orders for all you left handed players |

About Me |
|
My workshop is literally a cottage industry, working from home in the hamlet of Low Easby, on the fringes of the North Yorkshire National Park. My mandolins are made using traditional old-fashioned handcraft skills, blended with a combination of both traditional and exotic timbers. These timbers are renowned for their acoustic and tonal qualities which help produce a sweet sounding instrument. Particular attention is given to grain matching, along with detailed execution of wood thicknesses, bracing and scalloping, which when combined with the final Danish Oil finish will produce an instrument which has both beauty, quality and playability. |
